About Us

ALH Publications and metroMAGAZINE

Nearly two decades ago, Publisher Andrea L. Hoig had a vision for serving Omaha's philanthropic community and the individuals, organizations and businesses that make Omaha the unqiue and special place it is.

SpiritofOmaha.com is another step towards fulfilling her overall vision, adding a powerful new resource to the area’s original, trendsetting lifestyle, cultural and philanthropic magazine, metroMAGAZINE. This new website adds considerable muscle to a highly regarded stable of print and web media products created through Ms. Hoig's vision and leadership. The award winning area monthly, metroMAGAZINE shares well earned honors with the award winning annual publication, The Event Book & Giving Guide, the annual Ak-Sar-Ben Special Edition, viewed by many as the definitive Ak-Sar-Ben Coronation Keepsake Annual, and ALH's newest annual publication, buyOmahaNOW!™, which, combined with the buyOmahaNOW! section of this website, offers businesses and consumers a comprehensive and exceptional resource for making smart buying decisions in a new economic landscape.

The mission of ALH Publications is to recognize the ongoing efforts of Omaha-area businesses, organizations and individuals to better the community through their support of charitable and civic causes. alh Publications also encourages people’s desire to give something back to the community through volunteerism and philanthropy.

For over 19 years, metroMAGAZINE (formally known as Metro Monthly) has been the monthly magazine readers rely on for dynamic, award-winning coverage of charity events, the local fashion scene, inspiring human interest features and profiles, informative columns, educational awareness sections and coverage of regional culture and fine arts.

In the past two decades, metroMAGAZINE and ALH Publications has become renowned for introducing an upscale format and placing a premium on outstanding journalism, design and photography. metroMAGAZINE is also recognized as one of the metro area’s leading authorities on restaurants, arts and entertainment and trends in fashion and décor.

Since metroMAGAZINE first published in 1990, it has paved the way for coverage and promotion of Omaha’s philanthropic community. As the magazine marks its 20th anniversary in 2010, it also celebrates being widely regarded as the definitive local market leader and the standard against which all others are measured.

With the launch of SpiritofOmaha.com, ALH Publications is pleased to provide leaders and supporters in Omaha's charitable and cultural community a package of very powerful and flexible tools for connecting and communicating on a level never before possible, and we are genuinely excited about the opportunity to help "Make a Difference" in powerful new ways. We look forward with great anticipation, to introducing the public and local businesses to the dynamic array of features this new website offers our community. Omaha is a city unlike any in the country, and her many local charitable organizations and agencies, and progressive local business owners deserve a site like non other in the country… and now such a site exists.

Combined with our new and existing print media products: buyOmahaNOW! and The Event Book, and SpiritofOmaha.com, metroMAGAZINE offers advertisers a multi-dimensional tool for impacting our proven niche market of community leaders, decision makers and discriminating consumers, and expanding that market to effectively and dynamically serve local businesses in achieving their marketing goals.

Thank you to all who support this publishing house and our vision to make a difference and support those who believe as we do, that a new generation is ready to "Catch the Spirit of the Omaha community!"
