Kruggerrand found in a Salvation Army Red Kettle in Omaha

A one half ounce South African Kruggerrand was found in a Salvation Army Red Kettle over the weekend in Northwest Omaha.  The gold coin is worth an estimated $800.00 at this time.  The Omaha Salvation Army registered a record 4,800 bell ringers volunteering at more than 92 kettle sites last Friday and Saturday.

The Tree of Lights Campaign began November 11th. As of Dec. 8, more than $1.5 million has been donated to the campaign.  The Red Kettle drive runs through December 24th.   More volunteer bell ringers are needed through Christmas Eve.  Register online at ringomaha.org or call 402.898.6000.

In addition to giving time as a volunteer, there are several ways to give to The Salvation Army.  Mail donations to The Salvation Army, 3612 Cuming Street, Omaha NE 68131, or visit GiveSalvationArmy.org to donate online.  Donors may also text OMAHA to 80888 to make a $10 donation by phone.  Message & data rates apply.
