Fighting for the Right to Fight
Kim Guise, Assistant Director for Curatorial Services at The National WWII Museum, will provide an inside look at the creation of the exhibit, Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II. She will highlight some of the show's personal stories and share behind-the-scenes details about the artifacts and oral histories that tell of the fight for freedom and democracy at home and abroad during the war. Kim Guise is a Curator and Assistant Director for Curatorial Services at The National WWII Museum. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in German and Judaic Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also studied at the Universität Freiburg in Germany and holds a masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Louisiana State University. Kim is fluent in German, reads Yiddish, and specializes in the American prisoner-of-war experience in World War II. At The National WWII Museum since 2008, she has since facilitated the acquisition of hundreds of collections and has curated several major exhibits including Guests of the Third Reich: American POWs in Europe and From Barbed Wire to Battlefields: Japanese American Experiences in World War II. She served as a key advisor and a curatorial lead on Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II.
