Omaha Children's Choir Voices Creating Change Concert

Date

Mar 25, 2018
04:00 PM until 05:00 PM

Description

Voices Creating Change is a semi-annual collaborative event in which Omaha Children's Choir gives voice to the issues of our time. We use music as a tool to inspire social change in our community; a tool that can open our eyes to other cultures, open our emotions to different perspectives, break down social barriers, and unite people of all backgrounds. We use the power of people, art, and collaboration to tell the stories of organizations doing life-changing work. Omaha Children's Choir donates 100% of our Voices Creating Change proceeds to a chosen nonprofit organization doing important work in our community. This series will feature Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance as beneficiary. A community event and collaborative concert will highlight the work of OHKA -- providing accessible education for the community on creating healthy families and homes and preventing lead poisoning. The Omaha Children's Choir (OCC) will perform music that reflects the mission of OKHA, especially focusing on themes of love, family, and health. OCC is especially excited to be performing a piece it commissioned last year which was written in response to the Flint Water Crisis. Utilizing text from students living in Flint, this piece will powerfully reflect the importance of creating a healthy environment for the community. After a short concert, OHKA staff will be available to talk with community members; a silent auction will also be available to attendees.
