Zorinsky Lake Family Aquatic Center Set to Open

Mayor Jim Suttle and the Omaha Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department today announced plans to open the Zorinsky Lake Family Aquatic Center, 3808 South 156th Street, to the public on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 1 p.m. Mayor Suttle will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. In addition to the ribbon-cutting, the grand opening will feature music from a DJ and games and prizes for youth.

 


 

“The Zorinsky Lake Family Aquatic Center will be an outstanding new addition to our City’s pool system,” Mayor Jim Suttle said. “This new facility will offer many exciting features for youth and families to enjoy.”

The 6,000 square foot facility has a capacity of 358 and has nearly 58 linear feet of pool edge. Features of the new facility include: zero-depth entry, water slides, an interactive water play structure and lap lanes. In addition, the aquatic center uses environmentally-friendly design techniques to preserve the park and the landscape.

The facility’s hours will be: Monday – Thursday Noon- 8 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, Sunday 1 – 5 p.m. 

Admission is: Children $4 and Adults $4.75

Construction on the new aquatic center began in the spring of 2009. The aquatic center was designed by Water Technology and constructed by Lueder Construction Company. Olsson Associates served as the lead design consultant. The $3.4 million facility is financed through capital improvement funds.
