As the University of Nebraska at Omaha celebrates its Centennial, Classical 90.7 KVNO and UNO Television have both participated in this monumental anniversary. KVNO produced Centennial Moments that can be heard weekdays at noon; they include fascinating trivia about UNO, which add interest to each day. UNO Television created a 30- minute video to commemorate the first 100 years, “UNO 100”. KVNO and UNO Television are integral parts of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, as well as the UNO and Omaha communities.

World Class Instruction in Omaha:

The College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is the home of Classical 90.7 KVNO and UNO Television. Faculty and professional staff train future broadcasters though unique hands-on experiences. More than 300 students have graduated and can be found working in radio and television stations throughout the United States.

Our generous community has supported Classical 90.7 KVNO since 1972. As Omaha’s source for arts and cultural entertainment and
information, KVNO is proud to present the Arts at 8:30 every weekday morning. The Arts Calendar at kvno.org is your source of information for concerts, exhibits and cultural events. Listeners near and far enjoy streaming beautiful music at kvno.org.

Classical Kids is KVNO’s award winning program that recognizes excellent young musicians, ages 7 through 13. Each month, a new Classical Kid is recognized on the air and at an award ceremony. Nominations can be made at kvno.org. More than 120 young musicians have received this prestigious award, thanks to the Soener Foundation.

UNO Television is the proud recipient of 7 Telly Awards and 2 Davey Awards. We received a Heartland Regional Emmy Award for our most recent documentary, “Madagascar~Conservation vs. Survival”, which was narrated by Danny Glover and has original music composed by Peter Buffett. UNO Television has produced ten documentaries since 1994. Information about them is available at 554-2516.

UNO Television is a member of The Knowledge Network (TKN), which is broadcast on Cox Channels 17 and 18, plus Qwest Channels 74 and 25. This consortium of educational television program providers produces a variety of shows that entertain and inform. UNO Television produced shows include Inside Art, an arts magazine and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

UNO Television has trained students who work in stations across the country. One graduate, who has worked as a network news cameraman and field producer for ABCNews and NBC News in the Chicago area states, “I am a big promoter of UNO in the Chicago area. I am very proud of the training and education I received at UNO.”
