THE SALVATION ARMY/KETV 7 CAN HELP KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL BACKPACK PROGRAM: SCHOOL SUPPLIES URGENTLY NEEDED




 

With distribution underway your donations are still needed. Voices for Children’s annual Kids Count in Nebraska report shows the alarming impact the economic recession has had on children and families. To help these children start off their school year right, The Salvation Army and KETV 7 Can Help Kids have teamed up to collect new school supplies. Since 1998 nearly 100,000 local children have been assisted through this program.

The following items are needed: back packs, crayons, markers, rulers, glue, erasers, spiral notebooks, two pocket folders, pencils, pens and filler paper.

New school supplies are being collected until August 10. They can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Lied Renaissance Center, 3612 Cuming Street, any of the 28 First National Bank branch locations, or Staples, 151 N 78th Street. Monetary donations can be made online at www.GiveSalvationArmy.orgYou may also support the Back to School program by texting OMAHA to 80888 and make a $10 donation by phone. Message and data rates apply.

Distribution of backpacks: August 11 & 12, 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 – 4 p.m.; August 13, 9 a.m. – 12 noon. Boys Town Pediatrics will provide free school physicals at the Omaha locations on August 11 only. Distribution will be at The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 28 & Y; The Salvation Army North Omaha Community Center, 24 & Pratt; and The Salvation Army Council Bluffs Corps/Lakin Campus, 715 N 16 Street.
