50 Kids in 50 Days Volunteer Recruitment Campaign

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands is reaching out to the community to help give 50 kids, 50 mentors in 50 days. The need for additional support to help young people avoid risky behaviors and make good choices in life is greater than ever.

Parents, guardians and school personnel contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands daily wishing to enroll a child into our program. Our list of children that are ready to be matched with a Big Brother, Big Sister or Big Couple grows every day. Unfortunately, potential volunteers do not contact us at the same rate so children tend to have a waiting period for that special someone to come into their life. It is our desire to limit the wait time of these young children; to get them matched with the special person or couple to help them succeed in life.

During the months of November and December, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands is working on recruiting 50 new volunteers (Big Brothers, Big Sisters or Big Couples). With over 100 Littles currently ready to be matched, our goal is to provide a special friendship for as many of these children as possible in time for the holidays.

For more than 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As a donor and volunteer supported mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles), ages 7 through 14, in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
