ANNOUNCING FREE ADMISSION SUNDAYS IN DECEMBER AT LAURITZEN GARDENS

This December, Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha's Botanical Center is offering the gift of free admission on Sundays. Visitors to the garden on Sundays, December 5, 12, 19 and 26 will receive free admission to stroll the poinsettia show, view the latest art exhibit, shop in the gift shop, eat in the café or attend any special event. Sunday, December 5 is Holiday Happening where kids can make holiday crafts to take home or get their picture taken with Santa Claus while sharing their holiday wishes with him.

 


 

The event is from noon to 4 p.m., and crafts and photos are $3 per child for this event. Admission will be waived on Sunday only of this two-day event. The Heartland Flute Choir will perform holiday music on both days of the event from 2 to 4 p.m. National Poinsettia Day is celebrated on Sunday, December 12 this year. Not only will admission be waived on this day, but the first 100 visitors will also receive a free poinsettia grown in the Lauritzen Gardens greenhouses to take home (limit one per family).

Holiday music performed by a youth Suzuki violin group will fill the visitor and education center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 19 will feature holiday music by Candy Connery on piano and members of the St. Columbkille choir. To finish out the month of December, the day after Christmas, Sunday, December 26, offers the perfect time to bring out-of-town family and friends to the garden to see the spectacular poinsettia show. The one-of-a-kind show will awe and amaze guests from all over. This is an opportunity no one will want to miss.

Lauritzen Gardens in an urban oasis of beauty and tranquility. This 100-acre botanical garden, comprised of several outdoor garden areas, creates a living museum of unique four-season plant displays, maintained to the highest standards consistent with environmental stewardship. The visitor and education center includes the 5,000-square-foot floral display hall, a café, gift shop, horitculture library, classrooms, banquest ares and a community room.

Lauritzen Gardens is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the café serves lunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Admission to Lauritzen Gardens is $6 for adults November through March ($7 April through October), $3 for children ages six to 12 and free for members and children younger than six years old.

Lauritzen Gardens is conveniently located in the beautiful riverfront hills at First and Brancroft Streets and is close to the Henry Doorly Zoo, Rosenblatt Stadium and the Old Market.
