Golf Tournament Benefits Boys & Girls Club

Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, a United Way of the Midlands agency, and University of Phoenix-Omaha Campus invite area golfers to join them for the first annual Charity Golf Tournament to support the nonprofit. The event builds on a longtime community partnership between the organization and the University.

“Today more than ever, education opens doors,” said Jason Pfaff, campus director for the University of Phoenix-Omaha Campus. “Boys & Girls Clubs give youth the support and tools they need to develop confidence and pursue lifelong learning.”

Funds raised from the golf tournament will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs programs such as Project Learn, a program that provides fun, educational activities for kids. Another program, Career Launch, helps teens examine career options, set goals for their futures and plan the next steps to achieve them.

The event begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Pacific Springs Golf Club,16810 Harney St. The $75 per golfer fee includes cart, prizes and a flat iron steak buffet dinner.
