PANEL ARTISTS
JESS BENJAMIN: Ceramist Jess Benjamin's current work presents complex objects inspired by water usage in her native western Nebraska. Her main area of research is on the Ogallala Aquifer and Lake McConaughy. Benjamin was awarded Best 3-D Artist in 2010 by the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards.
JULIE CONWAY: Glass artist, is the owner and designer of Illuminata, a local glass design studio creating functional and sculptural glass art works. Julie has launched BioGlass™, a non-profit, addressing the needs for education and development of eco-efficient glass studios world-wide. With the threat of high cost in a fuel- consumptive industry, Julie and her colleagues are dedicated to the advancement of using sustainable fuel sources and recuperation techniques in the glass arts studios.
JEFF DAY: is the Omaha-based principal of the architecture firm Min | Day and an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he runs FACT (Fabrication And Construction Team), an academic/professional collaborative design lab that offers students a forum for exploring the complex relationships between thinking and making. A frequent collaborator with Min | Day, FACT engages design intensive projects and creative clients in collaborations that bridge the gap between design and construction.
JOSIE METAL-CORBIN: is a Professor at UNO and has been teaching, choreographing and performing since 1967. She is also Director of UNO’s modern dance company, The Moving Company and is an Artist in the Schools/Community for the Nebraska Arts Council. She has created site-specific works in various environments and integrates dance and ecological issues in her work in the schools.
