LIVE MUSIC - Friday, May 20th, 2011

4:00-5:45PM Funk Trek
"Funk Trek tore it up... Funk Trek definitely had the audience grooving to
largely instrumental music, which was a bit of a surprise." - B.J. Huchtemann, The Reader
The Urban Dictionary describes "funkified" as "Fortified with Funkiness, brimming and overflowing with Funk, a fountain of Funk." We simply define it as Omaha's energetic 9-piece band with 4-piece horn section, Funk Trek. But alas, funk is not all these uniquely-talented musicians know... Their jazz influences lead into the occasional smooth ambient sway - so prepare to be ultimately energized, seemingly tranquilized, and undoubtably funkified.

6:00-8:00PM Chris Saub and The Feel Good Groove Junkies
"Top 5% of musicians in town in one band, the only other place to get this quality of music is in Vegas." - Owner, Del Mare
Chris Saub is purely one of Omaha's musical "gems", and when you hear his new band, Chris Saub and The Feel Good Groove Junkies, you really - feel good. They bring a blending of soul, rhythm and blues, funk and jam band with covers of Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Rolling Stones, Elvis, BB King, John Mayer and more. Come hear what the fuss is all about (and bring your dancin' shoes) when Saub's 5-piece band gets it goin' Friday night.

LIVE MUSIC - Saturday, May 21st, 2011

2:00-3:45PM Son of 76 and The Watchmen
"Contemporary, vibey R&B-noir that wails, rocks, croons, shakes and howls. Funky, danceable music with fine original songs by soulful singer Joshua Hoyer galvanized by an accomplished ensemble of musicians." - Omaha Entertainment & Arts Awards
Just a few moments into listening to Joshua Hoyer's voice, one begins to understand why his inflences include Morphine, Robert Johnson, Rev. Horton Heat, Bob Dylan, and James Brown. This singer-songwriter from Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Electric Soul Method, shares the stage with some amazing musicians who combine to offer a complexity of sounds, from gritty blues and rock, to funk and soul. One show and you'll be hooked.

4:00-6:00PM Lucas Kellison and the Assembled Soul

"Lincoln has a soul, and her soul has a name. The name is Lucas Kellison and the Assembled Soul." - Daily Nebraskan
Kellison's first solo effort, Rise, drew comparisons to Dangelo, Prince, Maxwell, Stevie Wonder, Jamiriquai, and Robin Thicke. His 7-piece band, the Assembled Soul, appeals to the masses with its gritty rhythm section, soaring harmonies, and infectious funk. Kellison is currently finishing a solo album to be released in 2011. This album will feature George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, among others. You had better not miss this performance... Who knows where Kellison's music will take him?
