Bowl for Kids’ Sake Generates $235,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters


Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands held their annual “Bowl for Kids’ Sake” fundraising event at Papio Bowl on April 28-30 and May 5-7, raising more than $235,000.  

“Bowl for Kids’ Sake has been the signature fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands for over 30 years,” said BBBS of the Midlands CEO, Nichole Turgeon.  “All the money raised goes directly towards providing vulnerable youth with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.”

More than 1,300 people participated in this year’s event, which included 90 minutes of “cosmic” bowling (dimmed lights, strobe lights and colored lighting), pizza, beverages, music, and fun prizes.  Cox Communications was the Presenting Sponsor. Additional sponsors included: Bank of the West, Borsheims, Neff Towing, Runza, QuikTrip, West Corporation, Baird Holm, Creighton University, Fraser Stryker, Millard Lumber, Westchester Capital Management, Woodmen of the World, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, All Makes Office Equipment, Black Hills Corporation, Cubby’s, Charleston Homes, Critter Control, Feltz WeathPlan, Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police, Home Instead Senior Care, Kohll’s Pharmacy, Nebraska Furniture Mart, No Frills Supermarket, Old Navy, Real Property Appraisals, Union Bank and Trust Company,  and Zachry Engineering.
