Council Bluffs Downtown Organization - Gets 501(c)(3)

Bringing Main Street to Council Bluffs – has received notice from the Internal Revenue Service of its status as an exempt charitable organization as defined in IRS code 501(c)(3).  “This is a big accomplishment for MSCB,” said Arlo Burk, MSCB’s President.  “Reaching our goal of becoming a 501(c)(3) marks the beginning of an exciting future for downtown Council Bluffs.”
 

Local business people & volunteers, are behind a movement to create a more vibrant experience in downtown Council Bluffs are proud to announce that years of organizing are beginning to pay off.  Partnership with other Council Bluffs’ organizations, as well as government officials & citizens, will further propel revitalization of the historic, downtown areas, which benefits everyone living & working in Council Bluffs.
 

Modeling this approach from a very successful Main Street Program sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Council Bluffs will be able to achieve results such as;
 

·         Inspire retail longevity, increase new business starts and provide net gain in new jobs
·         Promote downtown activities & events while increasing consumer traffic
·         Encourage Historic building rehabilitations and renovations
·         Educate downtown business owners, partners & the community on how MSCB will utilize the Main Street Four Point Approach®.

 

In partnership throughout the Council Bluffs community, by everyone pitching in together through 4 committees who divide up the workload.  These committees; Promotion, Design, Economic Restructuring and Organization have provided over 2 Million volunteer hours that has led to over 1 Billion dollars of private investments in 45 Iowa Main Street Communities since 1986.  Iowa Main Street is a division of Iowa Department of Economic Development.
