First Annual Ball to Grant Woman Start-ups

The Metro Omaha Women’s Business Center (MOWBC) will host its first annual MOWBC Start-up Grant Ball at 6:30pm on January 28th 2012 at the Ramada Plaza Omaha Hotel and Convention Center to gift $500 and $1,000 grants to new, greater Omaha, women-owned businesses.  All are invited.

This year’s ball, the organization’s first, is a formal dress Masquerade Ball and will be MC’d by KFAB’s Lucy Chapman and will debut local humorist and author Susan Darst Williams as keynote speaker.  The evening’s entertainment includes a live and silent auction and dancing to the tunes of R-Style Band.

Grant recipients, to be announced at the ball, will be selected by the MOWBC Board from a pool of recommended applicants solicited from the Nebraska Business Development Center and SCORE.  Eligibility requirements include proof of a stable business and marketing plan and operations of one year or less.

These grants are intended to help defray start-up business expenses.  Part of MOWBC’s mission is to provide resources to help promote woman-owned business growth.
Dinner is included in the ticket price.  There will be a cash bar.

Tickets are $60 single, $110 couple and $500 for a table of ten and are available at www.mowbcf.org.  Corporate sponsorships are also available, call 402-917-6634 for details.
